Development of an AI-Based Trusted Smart System for Cardiovascular Health Monitoring (TSS CARDIO)
2025-04-02
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a major global health challenge that requires early detection and continuous monitoring for effective treatment. Globally, in 2021, approximately 20.5 million people died from CVDs, highlighting their significant impact on global mortality. Therefore, early diagnosis and management of CVDs is vital.
TSS CARDIO aims to develop an AI-based, trusted smart system for real-time, non-invasive monitoring of cardiovascular health. By analyzing PPG signals (the volumetric changes of blood in peripheral circulation) and applying AI algorithms, the system will enable accurate measurements and predictions of physiological parameters, including cardiovascular health, blood pressure, and other relevant indicators, to prevent complications and provide timely support.
Why this Matters
Cardiovascular diseases are a leading cause of death globally, demanding innovative solutions for early detection and continuous monitoring. This project addresses this critical need by developing an AI-powered, real-time cardiovascular health monitoring system. By accurately analyzing PPG signals, this system promises to transform preventative care, enabling timely interventions and personalized health management. Ultimately, it aims to empower individuals to take proactive control of their cardiovascular health, reduce the burden of CVDs, and contribute to saving lives through accessible, reliable, and intelligent health monitoring.
Key Foucs Areas
TSS CARDIO enhances cardiovascular research and healthcare by tackling several critical challenges:
• AI-Powered Physiological Measurement: Accurate extraction of features and physiological parameters from PPG signals.
• Robust Signal Processing: Development of advanced algorithms for noise reduction and data refinement.
• Real-Time Monitoring System: Creation of a reliable TSS prototype for continuous cardiovascular health analysis.
Key Results
TSS CARDIO has delivered important innovations in cardio-vascular research including PPGFeat toolbox:
•Enhanced Diagnostic Capabilities Through PPGFeat: Enabling precise, non-invasive identification of cardiovascular abnormalities by leveraging PPGFeat’s advanced
preprocessing and feature extraction.
• AI-Driven Cardiovascular Monitoring: Develops an AI-powered real-time cardiovascular health monitoring system, which allows for continuous monitoring of cardiovascular
health and various parameters.
• Smart System Implementation: Implement the developed algorithms on a reliable TSS prototype for cardiovascular health monitoring, empowering individuals and healthcare professionals with timely and informed decisions based on PPG signal analysis.
