Strategic Recruitments
TSS has decided to support strategic recruitments in Cybersecurity with 16 MSEK, together with a 20% visiting professor in Theoretical Computer Science. In addition, TSS funds eight research projects with 6 MSEK each, alongside seven pre-studies, each receiving 500k SEK. New recruitments and projects are underway. Additionally, TSS is launching a website and communication support to create accessible, engaging content based on scientific research for diverse audiences.
Cybersecurity
The journey to strengthen our cybersecurity expertise at Mälardalen University began in 2022 with the recruitment of a professor and research leader specializing in core cybersecurity. Our goal was to complement our already extensive cybersecurity research in related fields while also ensuring strong teaching capabilities for the new Cybersecurity Master’s program launched in 2024.
In September 2023, Shahid Raza, a renowned national leader in cybersecurity research, joined us part-time, bringing valuable expertise. We also welcomed two tenure-track Associate Senior Lecturers, Abbas Araghavi and Giuseppe Nebbione, to strengthen our research and teaching.
By mid-2024, after accepting a prestigious Chair in Cybersecurity, Raza transitioned to a strategic advisory role at MDU. In response, we launched the recruitment of two Senior Lecturers, with aim to reinforce teaching, research, and leadership in cybersecurity.
