Prof. Axel Jantsch

Prof. Axel Jantsch a pioneer in Network-on-Chip (NoC), received his Ph.d. in Computer Science from Technical U. of Vienna (TUV) in 1992. After a postdoc at KTH in Stockholm, he became a professor and head of the department for electronic systems at KTH, where his group introduced the term NoC. Since 2015, he has been at TUV, focusing on self-aware cyber-physical systems, embedded machine learning, and digital twins.
Professor Jantsch joined MDU as a Guest Professor 2024 within the ECE research direction. At MDU, he works on AI, machine learning, and digital twins in distributed systems. His efforts strengthen MDU’s international position, foster collaborations with TUV, and support Swedish industry challenges through impactful research and education initiatives. The collaboration envisions establishing a joint educational program and fostering new research opportunities, benefiting MDU’s academic and industrial partnerships while addressing Swedish industry needs.
