Integration of Solar Concentrating Collectors in District Heating Systems in High Latitude Regions

The goal of the SolDisH project is to evaluate changes in energy resource use and potential carbon dioxide emission reductions obtained through the integration of solar heat in district heating systems.

The solution is used in state-of-the-art, biomass-based technologies for the production of district heating and electricity. The study is based on a system approach and examines the potential for integration, including variables such as heat production methods, scale of heat production, type of fuels and climatic conditions.

The aim is to demonstrate the contribution from the integration of concentrating solar collectors to district heating systems to the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions while improving energy security.
