ProPlan

Smart Production Planning at City and Regional Level

The ProPlan project transforms the way energy systems work through intelligent solutions for operational management.

The project uses available data streams from the electricity grid and develops forecasting tools for different entities in the energy system, including supply, demand and market parameters. Intelligent control architectures are being developed to optimise participation in multiple electricity markets, whilst staying resilient to disruptions and high-impact low-probability events.

The pros and cons of different types of energy storage are evaluated, such as batteries, hydrogen and thermal storage. Specific strategies are being developed to address the health status of expensive assets. The interaction and synergies between the electricity grid and the district heating network are explored to maximise symbiotic benefits and sector coupling.

Project results are demonstrated via real-world case studies based on industrial developments and expansion plans in Sweden.
