ONGO:iFED
Ongoing Electrification in the Aviation Sector: Interregional Perspectives on Infrastructure Investment Optimization for Flight Electrification and Decarbonization
The ONGO:iFED project is a project that investigates the future of electric flight, charging and electrification of airports and contributes to both research and education in the field. The goal is to contribute to knowledge about the future of flight for increased resilience and sustainability.
The project has partners who contribute to the analysis of increased electrification in society, with a particular focus on aviation and airports.
The researchers in ONGO:iFED are investigating how airports can be electrified, and how electric and hybrid aircraft can be charged with, for example, high-power charging or mobile charging stations. Both the energy and transport systems at airports need to be both resilient, safe and robust to meet our societal needs for electricity and transport.
The ONGO:iFED project contributes to knowledge about resilience for electric flight and increased electrification at airports, as well as how technology in the aviation industry can develop in the future to contribute to more sustainable aviation. The project includes, for example, literature study, modeling in Matlab/Simulink and supervision of a thesis. One goal is to analyze electric passenger flights for the southern parts of Sweden.
