MDU Research Profile MARC Inauguration

The inauguration of the MARC research center at MDU's Västerås campus was opened with a toast from the center's director, Thomas Nolte.

He outlined the foundation of the center, which builds on previous collaborative projects at MDU and meets the growing innovation needs of the Finnslätten hub. With strong industrial partnerships with ABB, Alfa Laval,Volvo Construction Equipment,Hitachi Energy,Skanska,Ericsson,Automation Region,MITC - Mälardalen Industrial Technology Center, Robotdalen. MARC aims to become Sweden's leading research center for automation and digitalization and to advance both research and education at various levels.

During the event, the heads of MARC's three main research areas-Jessica Bruch, Alessandro Vittorio Papadopoulos, and Mikael Sjödin-each presented their research focus. Mälardalen UniversityVice Chancellor Martin Hellström, along with Dennis Helfridsson, Managing Director of ABB Sweden, and Mattias Jarl, Program Manager for Research Profiles at KK-stiftelsen, shared their perspectives on MARC from both an academic and industry perspective.

Thank you very much! More than 150 people attended the inauguration event and witnessed the exciting launch of the MARC research center. It was a great start for what promises to be a leading force in automation and digitization research. Stay tuned for further developments and future innovations!
