More applicants to the English taught Master’s programmes at MDH
The number of applicants in the international application rounds continue, despite the pandemic, to increase. The programmes on advanced level display the biggest increase, with up to 164 percent, according to the latest application data.
For the Master’s level there is an 18 percent increase in the total number of applicants, and as much as 43 percent in the number of applicants with one of the programmes as their first priority. This when a comparison is made with 2019, when the programme offer was nearly the same as the current year. The Master’s programme in Social Work within Health and Welfare display the single biggest increase, 164 percent, in the number of first priority applicants. The increase in the number of first priority applicants was large also for two of the programmes with the field Technology and Engineering, with 132 percent for the Master’s programme in Software Engineering and 100 percent for the Master’s programme in Innovation and Design.
The two Bachelor’s programmes taught in English, Analytical Finance and International Business Management, have a smaller increase with in total eight percent more applicants compared to last year. The biggest increase can be seen for International Business Management, with 13 percent more applicants this year. A larger part, 59 percent, of the applicants for Bachelor’s level required to pay application fee, have paid their fee. This is a prerequisite for eligibility assessment.
– An increase in the number of applicants, despite the fact that we are in the middle of a pandemic resulting in the future and the economic situation for many people, as well as the situation in the entire world being affected, is positive although not entirely foreseen. We of course hope that as many as possible are eligible and can commence their studies this autumn, says Johanna Forsström, Project Manager International Student Recruitment at MDH.
