More energy and stronger sense of community!

The idea behind Pluggpeppen is that the programme students at MDH should feel healthy and less lonely during the pandemic. Hear Anna Ulriksson Biderman at MDH tell more about the drive.

Why does MDH start Pluggpeppen?

To give our students an energy boost after a different year studying on distance. We’d like to inspire to add a few minutes every day on physical activity. A walk or yoga, padel or weight training – everything counts. Our hope is also that Pluggpeppen will create a digital community and increases the unity in the class now that students don’t meet on campus as usual.

How does Pluggpeppen work?

The students record their activity through an app and compete against each other regarding what programme that has collected most points during the period. As a price, the winning team gets an online training with the work out profile Fannie Redman.

Why is being active so beneficial when studying?

Being active has a lot of positive health effects, among other things it increases energy levels, boosts creativity, and reduces stress. Plenty of research has shown this, also our own research here at MDH.

What do you hope for Pluggpeppen to contribute to?

That the students get more energy and take that walk or break when studying, which they otherwise wouldn’t have prioritised. It’s the little things that in the long run create a sustainable health.

Does MDH offer more support for students?

Yes we most certainly do! The Student Centre offers study advisors, The Student Health Care, and support regarding e.g. academic writing and study technique. lardalen Student Union and all the programme associations also arrange activities to make their members feel healthy and enjoy their time here.

What’s your best work out tip?

I always say good work out is the one that gets done. Ten squats while you’re brushing your teeth are better than no squats, and a 15 minute walk often clears the head as good as a longer one would. And once you get started you often want to do more! There are great PT:s in social media and on YouTube, offering free knowledge and inspiration. Join and copy!

Pluggpeppen!

Now it’s more important than ever to do some exercise. That’s why we’re launching Pluggpeppen! A competition where you and your fellow programme friends challenge other programmes at MDH by working out and scoring points on an app. Running, yoga, swimming, weight training or going out with the dog – whatever you do you’ll help your team to climb up the table. And not least: pep, challenge and push each other to manage just a little bit more!
