Three new honorary doctors

This article was written before our official name change on January 1, 2022 from Mälardalen University (MDH) to Mälardalen University (MDU).

An important part of MDH’s relations with the surrounding community, both internationally and nationally, is to confer the degree of honorary doctor on people who are important to the University. MDH can now proudly present Hilde Eide, Branislav Selic and Rickard Sohlberg as honorary doctors for 2020. They are three people who in many ways have contributed to the development of MDH’s activities.

− What is common to this year’s honorary doctors is that they combine long experience, deep knowledge and a strong involvement in health and technology. Through their involvement in collaboration they have contributed to the development of MDH, says Daniel Sundmark, Dean at MDH.

Hilde Eide is Professor of Clinical Communication and Health Guidance at the University of Sørøst-Norge. Through her collaboration in person centred-care and communication as well as health and welfare she has been central in the establishment of several research and education fields at MDH’s School of Health, Care and Social and Welfare.

Branislav Selic is a researcher in Software Engineering and founder of Malina Software. Through his collaboration with research groups at MDH during the last few years he has both directly and indirectly contributed to significantly strengthening the University’s profile area of Embedded Systems.

Rickard Sohlberg is an innovator, strategist and entrepreneur and also owner of Scarptor Consulting AB. In many ways he is a Swedish IT pioneer and visionary, with hundreds of successful
