Sheela Hariharan graduated from SRM University, India with a master's degree in embedded systems. Since October 2018, she has been employed by Volvo Construction Equipment as a Cybersecurity Specialist and Diagnostics Engineer with a background in embedded software development and product cybersecurity. She continued her academic career at Mälardalen University by enrolling in a Ph.D. program at ARRAY University in 2022. At Volvo CE, she works on security projects related to secure by design, security verification, and validation.
About Sheela's thesis
Construction machinery is becoming increasingly dependent on emerging computer technologies to provide the best performance, comfort, and safety to its customers, which are also vulnerable to security risks. Therefore, securing these machines against cyber-attacks is of greater importance.
The research project of Sheela Hariharan investigates security testing methodologies for construction machinery so that security vulnerabilities can be found during development and mitigated. Her work incorporates various security testing methods, including penetration testing, fuzzing, and model-based security testing, to implement effective security validation in the industry.
